Abstract

Increasing utility and operational efficiency is one of the keys to success in the company. PT X as a company engaged in the agribusiness industry producing animal and poultry feed is experiencing problems in the form of quite large differences in production results and capacity. Apart from that, companies also face challenges in queue management in the process of loading finished goods to reduce buildup and delays in the loading area. Discrete Event Simulation methods are used to evaluate and improve utility in both the packing area and the finished product loading area. By carrying out a proposed simulation in the packing area in the form of eliminating additional waiting time, the company can increase its production output by around 13%. Then, by carrying out a simulation of the proposal in the loading queue in the form of reducing the number of loading doors from initially opening 7 loading doors to only 6, the utility of loading doors which was previously only 74-87% increased to 88-96%, while still paying attention to the tolerable truck queue.
