Abstract

The research is done at a company engaged in shipbuilding, construction, and
related services. The company has not implemented adequate occupational health and safety (OHS) practices to help workers and the organization mitigate hazards during the production process. Therefore, this research was conducted to assist the company in identifying, assessing potential hazards, and providing recommendations to reduce the occurrence of these hazards in the production process. Several methods were employed, including fishbone diagrams, the 5 Whys technique, and the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) method. Through the identification and analysis of potential hazards, three highest-risk ratings were identified: during the ship body assembly process, installation of engines and ship tanks, and installation of mast
poles. Based on the recommendations provided, satisfactory results were achieved in reducing the potential occurrence of hazards in the production process. This effort aims to support both the company and its workers in achieving a safer and more comfortable working environment.
