Abstract


Abstrak - Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi fenomena pelecehan seksual di industri perhotelan di Surabaya, mulai dari persepsi korban mengenai definisi dan sejauh mana tindakan yang dapat dikategorikan dalam tindakan yang melecehkan secara seksual, jenis pelecehan yang sering terjadi di industri perhotelan, penyebab terjadinya pelecehan seksual yang ditinjau dari aspek karakteristik korban dan iklim organisasi, reaksi korban dan dampak yang ditimbulkan dari pelecehan seksual, serta penanganan dari pihak hotel untuk mencegah, menanggapi, maupun menanggulangi pelecehan seksual yang terjadi di industri perhotelan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak semua informan mengerti dengan jelas definisi dan jenis pelecehan seksual, pelecehan seksual yang paling sering terjadi adalah pelecehan seksual berbentuk fisik, karakteristik, kurangnya pengetahuan mengenai pelecehan seksual, dan iklim organisasi dapat mempengaruhi terjadinya pelecehan seksual, serta kurangnya pelatihan, sosialisasi,dan intervensi dari pihak hotel untuk menindaklanjuti kasus pelecehan seksual yang telah terjadi.

     Abstract - This research was done to explore the phenomenon of sexual harassment in the hospitality industry in Surabaya, from the victim’s perception about the definition and to what extent does an act or behavior can be categorized into sexual harassment, what kind of sexual harassment that occur the most in hospitality industry, the cause of sexual harassment, reviewed from the aspect of the victim’s characteristic, and organizational climate, the victim’s reaction and the impact of sexual harassment, also the case handling done by the hotel to treat sexual harassment cases which occurred in the hospitality industry. Data analysis technique used in this research was qualitative research method. The result from this research showed that not all of the informants understood clearly the definition and types of sexual harassment, the most often form of sexual harassment is physical sexual harassment, victim’s characteristics, lack of knowledge about sexual harassment, and organizational climate can influence the occurrence of sexual harassment, also lack of training, socialization, and intervention from the hotel to treat harassment cases which had occurred.
